Crunchyroll announced today (see press release) that one of the many titles they will be simulcasting this winter is Hourou Musuko. Now that it’s been licensed by them we will no longer be subbing it. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we do not wish to harm the anime industry by subbing licensed series. Please stay tuned for further updates and hopefully a new project announcement!

Announcing our new project for the Winter 2010 season!
Hourou Musuko is about Shuuichi Nitori, a 7th grade student who likes to bake and has always been a somewhat feminine boy. When he transfers to a new school, Shuuichi is mistaken for his 8th grade sister on the first day. He then ends up sitting next to Yoshino Takatsuki, a tall, tomboyish girl who everyone calls Takatsuki-kun. The trailer should pretty much explain the rest!
To all you experienced kara guys out there with some time on your hands please don’t hesitate to contact us, as we will need your help from the next season on. Enjoy the eps.
Still recruiting translators, translation checkers, editors and experienced AFXers and timers as always. If you’d like to join us, please let us know by visiting our recruitment channel – #phantom-recruit@rizon.net.

Yes, we know a lot of people are enraged right now
We are having a hard time with Senkou no Night raid … Unfortunately.
- We lost a translator (Personal affair – rainierus)
- We lost two timers (One cannot get online because of HDD failure – thekid, and one his shoulder is giving him trouble again – Samkook)
- A bunch of staff busying with their University (Final year) final Exam.
We need a bunch of experienced staff to join. Any help is appreciated.
And here is the update.
Night raid 2: Just finished Translation checking, need timing, Editing, and encoding
Night raid 3: Translating
Hakuouki 2: Still translating
Viper’s creed 4-5, 11-12: waiting on encoder.
Pandora Hearts special 7-9: waiting on Translation check and timing.
meh… worst time I have ever encountered…
Hey everyone,
Happy New Year! (Though a little bit late)
With kouin (and the leave of the month of execution*) it’s time for a little update.
First: Tetsuwan Birdy Decode The Cipher – Finally released, on the fact that we spent 4 months on it……
Second: Sora no Woto – Everything went quite well as you can see.
Third: Other active Projects – ……
Fourth: Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan – just picked. All of the staff (besides staffs from Chinese section) in Sora Project will be transferred to here. If you think we did a good job in Sora, it will be the same with Hakuouki
. We will not release Chinese translation as our partner – DA will release with their own “resources”.
Fifth: As usual, when we pick a new project, we always recruit (and kick out the lazy staff
)
- Translator (Japanese to English. We also welcome Chinese to English “translator”, but you will probably only QC)
- AFXer – make OP/ED (and other) after effects
- Editor - Checks the English. (Don’t think that we won’t test you because you are a native English speaker! I came across a lot of *native speakers* from erm… (NBA…super bowl…) who can’t write decent English.)
- Encoder – By whatever means. I don’t care. Just get me a video that can be released.
Sixth: The spring has come
I expect a good year in kouin. Thanks for all you do and may we all grow and prosper in the year of tiger.

*Some one asked what is “the month of execution”, and here is the quote from http://www.slate.com/id/2159747
“…The new months each had 28 days. But that didn’t sit well with Numa because even numbers were considered bad luck at the time. So, he added a day on to January, giving the year an odd-numbered 355 days. No one knows why February was left with 28 and remained an unlucky month. It may be related to the fact that Romans honored the dead and performed rites of purification in February. (The word februare means “to purify” in the dialect of the ancient Sabine tribe.)…”
Hey everyone,
Happy New Year!
With 2010 here it’s time for a status update.
First: we have rebuilt our website on a new server with latest version of our site, over all this went well.
Second: I personally, as encoder for Phantom Subs, have decided to make a few changes to the way we do things. For all new shows (not existing projects) we will release in 3 flavors: High Quality Soft Subbed h264 mkv, High Quality Hard Subbed h264 mp4 (should be playable on Xbox 360s and Playstation 3s as well as some higher end DVD Players), and a lower resolution lower quality Xvid/ avi.
Third: We have picked up a new show which you already know about, Sora no Woto. It is an incredibly well done series that I think you all will enjoy. We will be releasing the show in both English and Chinese. This will be the first Series picked up since the original founder Jin went back to Japan for College. Sora no Woto as well will be the first show released in dual languages and encoded in three flavors. Lot’s of firsts in 2010 for Phantom it seems.
As for the status of current shows, a quick run down -
Pandora Hearts – We are currently working on Episodes 19 and 20 as well as DVD Special number 6. Progress is being made but has been slow due to the normal translator for this series being busy with work.
Vipers Creed – Episode 11 is proceeding. There has been a lot of work on it in the past month. This show had some huge challenges because most of the work on it was done by people no longer with this group or to busy to do it. Expect to see Episode 11 soon. I mean it this time.
Tetsuwan Birdy Decode The Cipher – Progress on this is proceeding real well. Expect a release soon.
I expect a good year in 2010 full of many new things and surprises. To our staff, old & new, thanks for all you do and may we all grow and prosper in 2010.
